Where Can I Serve around the world?
Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as preparing the church bulletins and newsletters, to going on service projects and mission trips around the world. Below is a list of some of the international missions and missionaries we support.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Our mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.
The Snydor family is in France with their ministry of activating local churches for ministry to refugees. They work with refugees throughout Europe. Paul is European Director of IAFR (Int’l Assoc for Refugees) where he provides support & oversight for other missionaries who work with refugees, connects churches with refugees & refugee workers, researches refugee issues and travels for onsite assistance & evaluations.
The Burundi Hope Project was founded in October, 2014. It is a ministry of Ripe for Harvest World Outreach. Susan and Mark May have been volunteers working in partnership with Jim and Vicki Brooks in Burundi, Africa for 10 years. Susan began to travel and work on site in 2010. Since the recent passing of Jim Brooks, Susan is currently serving as the short term missionary on site, while Mark assists with administration and logistics. Mark will be joining her short term trips beginning in June 2017.
Daystar Junior School Kirombe is a fully registered Nursery & Primary School located in Kampala District, Makindye Division in the slum areas of Lusaka Kirombe Zone 5 with an 8km drive from the city centre Kampala. Its medium-sized Nursery & Primary school for pupils aged 3 – 13(currently). It started in January 2015 with a total number of 173 pupils. The school provides a stimulating, creative, nurturing and dynamic learning environment that engages pupils to develop lifelong learning skills in an atmosphere of care, cooperation and respect. A Long history of tradition and excellence in humanitarian work of providing Life Skills to neighboring communities during school holidays inspired Nyanzi to start a holistic school of Daystar Junior School Kirombe.
Did you know that today there are some 6,500 people groups with no effective witness for Jesus? ANM serves 250 indigenous mission partners with over 8,000 native missionaries working in 80 countries. These missionaries are engaging 425 of these unreached people groups and are reaching out to more all the time. Native missionaries already know the language and culture of the people they serve. They are already accustomed to the physical climate, environment, and political situation. Because their standard of living is comparable to those they serve, often vastly different from that of a foreign missionary, they are able to live and minister on a fraction of the resources. Since it doesn’t take them years to learn the language and culture, they can begin their work after minimal training and preparation. Finally, because they are working among their own family, friends, and neighbors, they are committed for the long-term work of missionary endeavor.
